Gate Automation - Brushless the way to go
Anyone that owns or has used a brushless tool, will attest to the efficiency and longevity of these tools. Edgesmith Ltd has launched ROGER Automation, the first brushless range of gate automation in the New Zealand market, and if the first few months are anything to go by, we will soon be seeing these motors all across the country.
So why brushless?
- Due to virtually no heat being produced, the longevity and reliability of the motors is exceptional
- No heat = more running time than conventional motors. All Roger motors have a 100% duty cycle (no need to rest the motors)
- Low power consumption
- Compatible with solar. Due to low power consumption, these motors are ideal for solar installations and perfect for both rural and commercial set ups
Solar installations – bridging the gap between rural and commercial installations
Northland Metal Industries recently installed a solar powered Roger swing motor to a rural farm gate in Mangawhai and the results have been exceptional.
Both Ross Crump and Nigel Hutchinson commented that not only was the ease of installation a benefit but more importantly the continual operation of the motor through the recent rainy period, with very little sunshine for almost 2 weeks!
Due to the low power consumption of the brushless motors, the amount of opening/closing cycles achievable through solar is drastically increased. The ROGER range of motors are wholly designed and manufactured in Italy and available in sliding, swing and underground motors, as well as barrier arms.
We have a full test facility at our Auckland premises and have subjected these motors to a grueling 216 000 cycles on non-stop use over the past 6 months. We’ve worn out two sets of gate hinges but the motors are as good as the day they were installed.
Anyone is welcome to visit us at any time to have a look at our full range as well as see the motors in action at our test facility.
