Security Solutions for Facility Overseers | FenceLab

If you are the owner of a building – whether that be residential apartments, an industrial complex, or anything in between – then one of your top priorities is undoubtedly a fence design created for optimum security. Your residents or workers place their trust in your facility every day, and as such you want to be affording them enough security to feel safe and secure. In addition, it is important to note that some of the best security policies are reliant on access control to restrict who is allowed into the site or building.

No matter the facility you oversee, there’s a myriad of options when it comes to security solutions and access control systems, each with their own benefits either individually or in combination with each other. To ensure peace of mind, go over the options below to best secure your property’s perimeter.

Security Fencing

Security fencing comes first and foremost in the security strategies for site overseers, as it is what forms the literal perimeter around the property. If you fence in your facility with unscalable barriers, then you bottleneck the zones at which you need to implement even more security measures. In order to achieve this bottleneck, however, you need to ensure that the fencing you choose is highly effective against potential intruders.

There are two main aspects of security fencing:

  • Scalability. This means how easy it is for someone to climb the fence, and the ideal security fence has very low scalability (is very difficult to climb). Most fencing designs do this by including spikes at the top of the panels, overlaying the fence with mesh, or some combination thereof.
  • Strength. Security fencing must be able to stand up to the test of time, as well as withstand great stress in the event that someone attempts to get through it. Therefore, the panels should be constructed with heavy or galvanised steel. You can also choose panels with lightweight aluminium that has been fashioned into tubular sections, which strengthens the material while retaining its lightweight qualities.

Gate Automation

Fencing panels are not just for fences. They can be used to create matching security gates for fluidity in gate design. For that extra layer of security, you are also able to add an automated barrier – more commonly known as boom gate – for controlled access. It is recommended that you implement gates like these at building or driveway entrances because it utilises the bottleneck created by good security fencing, enabling you to monitor only a few entrances with highly-controlled access protocols.

Roger Technology Bionik Gate

Consider a model like the new Roger Technology Bionik Gate, which has been explicitly designed for high-volume usage and minimal power consumption. The brushless motor ensures no wear and tear despite unlimited use, and there are three models to choose from:

  • BIONIK4. Designed for commercial and residential premises, this is a small but highly resistant structure with a robust boom. This model is designed to blend seamlessly with the urban landscape while also facilitating your security needs.
  • BIONIK6. This model is more resistant and slightly larger than the BIONIK4 but remains an elegant choice for your facility. Because of its size and extra sturdiness, it works well to manage access to commercial and industrial premises as well as parking lots that have high volumes of traffic. This model is also available with a four-metre-long boom for wide-lane access points.
  • BIONIK8. This is the most heavy-duty option in the BIONIK range, with telescopic reinforced supports to make the boom the safest it could possibly be, and the addition of a new double-spring linkage lever to reduce wear on the points that hold the weight of the boom. This reduces wear and tear on the machine without compromising on the safety.

Automated Driveway Gates

If a boom gate does not suit your needs, another optimal access control solution would be an automated driveway gate. Constructed from the same panels as your chosen fencing, automated driveway gates swing out, up, sideways or inward, depending on your driveway needs. They act on the same principle as a boom gate but with added security, as it is much harder to scale a panelled driveway gate than a supported arm.

However, it is important to consider the volume of traffic around the entrance you are wanting to secure. High-traffic entrances would benefit from a boom gate as they operate quickly and efficiently, while a driveway gate might be better for lower-traffic entrances.

The last thing you want to consider when implementing a security system is how to restrict authorised access to those who have the privilege while allowing them to let people in should they need to. This is especially applicable in residential apartments or condominiums where the residents may have access, but their visitors don’t.

Intercoms are a convenient, easy, and overall fantastic way to regulate access. They give residents control over visitor entry while ensuring that you know who has access to the building for peace of mind. Intercoms can be wired to apartment numbers or telephone lines so that visitors may request access, and you can use the proximity ID cards to allow residents a quick entry when they come home.

If you have decided to use intercoms at your facility, consider the MultiCOM Family Intercom System. There are two models, the MultiCOM Classic and MultiCOM Lite, and they offer specific features outlined in the brochures below. Download Brochure

Implement security with seamless design.

At the end of the day, the most important thing to do when installing a security system is to choose access methods that you and your staff can easily regulate. Once the process becomes too complicated, holes in security will form and it will become easier for someone to break in. Keep security methods streamlined and well-maintained, and you should have very few problems.
